Math Night

Last night was math night at the middle school. The math teachers have it to talk about the OAT which is coming up in April. We were a half hour late. When we got there, one of the 7th grade math teachers gave Maggie a handout with 10 sample questions on it. It took her about 10 minutes to finish. She only missed one question-the easiest one! Maggie is taking algebra this year but that's not on the test. Her algebra teacher has been giving the kids sample tests all year just so they are familiar with the material that he teaches in his regular math classes. He says the algebra kids should have no problems with the OAT.
Maggie usually does well on the state tests. She actually got a perfect score on her third grade reading test!! Maggie has reading, writing and math this year. Allie has reading, writing, math science and social studies. Chrissy just has reading and math.
I understand the purpose of the tests but sometimes there is a lot of pressure on the kids. I always tel the girls to relax and do their best. It's not the end of the world. They have always done just fine in the past. I'm proud of them no matter what score they get on the tests!
